ABOUT US
Our Story
Sonny’s Farm is a small, family-run project rooted in connection — to the land, the seasons, and each other.
Cathal grew up here in Clogherboy, Co. Galway. Some of his earliest memories are of his grandad Sonny working the land — the farm is named in his honour. A sustainability consultant with a passion for organic farming, Cathal always dreamed of returning to the land.
Leila is originally from Kazakhstan, the birthplace of apples. Her path took her from a high-pressure career in tech to yoga and baking — after experiencing burnout, she found healing in slowing down, moving gently, and baking with the seasons. She now teaches soothing, inclusive yoga classes and bakes sourdough breads, brownies, seasonal scones, and bespoke cakes using local and foraged ingredients.
Together with their daughter Alma (whose name means “apple” in Kazakh), they’ve returned to the family farm to live simply and sustainably — planting organic apple trees, keeping bees, growing their own food, and welcoming others to join them.
At Sonny’s Farm, we hope to create a space where people can pause. Where children can play freely, where the kettle’s always on, and where you can breathe deep, stretch your body, and taste something real. Whether you join us for yoga, a seasonal workshop, or a treat from the farm — you’re very welcome.
